RINN, JOSEPHINE

A funeral mass was offered Feb. 20 at Our Lady of Mercy Church for Josephine (Basista) Rinn, 87. She passed away Feb. 16. Josephine was a lifelong resident of Jersey City. Born on the 4th of July, and raised on Fourth Street, where she met and married her husband, Alfred. They shared 63 wonderful years together, raising their family in Country Village before retiring to College Towers. A songstress and avid bowler, she was a homemaker and a member of the Rosary Society and Senior Citizens of Our Lady of Mercy Church. The greatest joy of her later years was spending time with her family and friends, and she especially enjoyed sharing meals with them. In addition to being a sister, aunt and friend to many, Josephine was a mother of five, and is survived by her husband, Alfred (retired detective, JCPD); their son, Alfred J.; daughter Datina Rinn, (first female Captain, JCPD); his grandchildren, Christopher Rinn and wife Anya, Kimberley Killoran and her husband Stephen, Tamryn Valenzuela and her husband Richard, Erin Rinn, Allison Rinn, Raquel Rinn, Rachel Rinn, Jillian Harris and Jaimie Harris, and six treasured great-grandchildren, Justin and Giancarlo Valenzuela, Julia and Charles Rinn, Abigail Killoran and Christopher Tustin. She was predeceased by her three sons, Thomas, Joseph and Ronald. Services arranged by the Greenville Memorial Home, Jersey City.
