Funeral services were conducted Feb. 21 for Mary Ellen Halko. She passed away unexpectedly Feb. 17. She was surrounded by her loved ones. Mary was born and raised in Hoboken, and moved to Toms River in 1981. She was employed by St. Barnabas Health Care Systems for a total of 21 years. She will be remembered as the “rock” of the family. She loved to be around her family and friends and forever will be missed, but never forgotten. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Edward Halko, her mother Catherine Tobin and her father John Tobin. She is survived by her four daughters, Christine, Patty, Lynn, and Debbie, and her son Eddie. She is also survived and blessed by her grandchildren, Shawna, Jay, Courtney, Justin, Kasey, RJ, Kayla and Mikayla and soon to be expected Julianna. She is also survived by her great granddaughter Myiah. She is also survived by her twin brother, James Tobin and her younger brother, John Tobin. Services arranged by the Leber Funeral Home, Union City.
