Funeral mass took place March 13 at St. Nicholas R.C. Church, Jersey City, for Mary Blackwood. She died peacefully at the Cusack Care Center on March 11. Mary was born in West Virginia, the daughter of the late Anna and Frank Nemes, coming to Jersey City 80 years ago. She was a nurse’s aide for the Jersey City Medical Center for over 25 years retiring in 1969. She is the wife of the late Cyril Blackwood and mother of Joyce Jaekel and the late Evelyn Scerbo. Mary has one brother and three sisters; sister-in law of William Scerbo; grandmother of Sandra, Donna, Robert, Michael, Kerri and the late Robert and Evelyn; great-grandmother 10 and great great-grandmother of four. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Services arranged by the Houghton Funeral Home, Jersey City.
