NORTH BERGEN AND UNION CITY — United Water has issued a “boil water” advisory for people in several towns, in light of this weekend’s flooding and power outages, according to the Record.
While the release is not on the United Water website, the newspaper notes:
Customers in Hillsdale, Northvale, Washington Towship, Emerson, Alpine, Paramus, Dumont, Englewood Cliffs, Teaneck, Hasbrouck Heights, Carlstadt, Ridgefield, North Bergen and Union City have to boil their water for one minute for the following: drinking, cooking or baking, making ice cubs, taking medication, brushing teeth, washing food, mixing baby formula or food, mixing juices or drinks, feeding pets and all other consumption.
Water does not have to be boiled for the following activities: showering, washing dishes or clothes.
The company asked customers to use water only for essential needs, such as cooking, drinking and bathing.
