A liturgy of Christian burial was held March 8 at St. Michael Villa Chapel for Sr. Ursula Maphet, CSJP, 84. She passed away March 3. Sister Ursula was born in Jersey City, daughter of the late William S. Maphet and Helen Callery. Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace at St. Michael Villa Novitiate, Englewood Cliffs, on March 6, 1942 and pronounced final vows there on September 8, 1947. Sister earned her M.A. in General Professional Education. She ministered in the following assignments in New Jersey: Our Lady of Peace School, Fords; St. Luke’s H. S., Hohokus; and Annunciation School, Paramus. Sister also taught at Holy Cross H.S., Phillips, Bukidnon, Philippines. On returning from the Philippines Sister ministered at St. Joseph Magazine Office, in Jersey City. She retired to St. Michael Villa in July 1998. Sister is survived by her nieces, Mrs. Kathleen Dugo of NY, Mrs. Geralyn Esworthy of Pa, Mrs. Patricia Pichette of NY and Mrs. Maureen Speer of NJ. Services arranged by the Angelo G.
