Dear Editor:
Having served almost 4 terms (3 years per term) as an elected Board of Education trustee in the Secaucus District I can unequivocally say that Gov. Christie’s selection of Bret Schundler as commissioner of Education was/is a stroke of genius. This is the most difficult economic time I’ve ever experienced in all my years of service.
Who better to convey the message the Governor wants to get across to intra-district public, charter and private school. Some of the policy Gov. Christie’s is now implementing in 2010 is similar to proposals that Bret Schundler had advocated for over the four decades I’ve known him. He was always ahead of the times in regard to education. Now, more than ever we need his vision in these difficult economic times.
The message he is delivering some view as gloom and doom. However, as the old saying goes, don’t kill the messenger because you didn’t like the message.
Bret Schundler was/is a great choice to lead our school system at this difficult economic point in time. Good choice Governor.
