Funeral services were held March 24 for James R. Sowma, 83, formerly of Clifton. He passed away March 18. James served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy, Air Force and Army during World War II and the Korean War. He was with the 79th Division, First Infantry Division and was in the Battle of the Bulge. James received the Good Conduct Metal and the Purple Heart. James was also a member of the American Legion Post 1000. He was the husband of the late Joan Sowma; former husband of Faye Sowma; father of Barbara Thompson, Joan Sowma and James Sowma,Jr.; grandfather of Nicole and Michael, and great-grandfather of Michael Jr.; and brother of Jean Einreinhof. Services arranged by the Mack Memorial Home, Secaucus.
