JC employee indicted for alleged sex chat
Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, Esq., announced last week the indictment of 41-year-old Wall Township resident Joseph Ambrosio. Ambrosio, who was employed as an assistant comptroller for Jersey City, was arrested in November at his home charges of allegedly engaging in sexually explicit chats with a police officer posing as a 13-year-old.
The indictment was returned by a Passaic County Grand Jury on 17 counts. He was indicted for one count of attempted sexual assault, a second-degree crime; one count of official misconduct, three counts of luring or enticing a child; 10 counts of attempted endangering the welfare of a child, and two counts of attempted criminal sexual conduct.
The attempted sexual assault, official misconduct, and luring or enticing a child charges each carry a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in the New Jersey State Prison.
The endangering the welfare of a child charges each carry a maximum sentence of up to five years in the New Jersey State Prison. The attempted criminal sexual contact charges each carry a maximum sentence of up to 18 months in New Jersey State Prison.
City spokesperson Jennifer Morrill said Ambrosio was immediately suspended without pay after his arrest and remains suspended without pay until the outcome of his case. Ambrosio has been released on $100,000 bail.
Meet blues singer Shemekia Copeland at pre-concert buffet
This coming Friday, April 16, meet blues singer Shemekia Copeland before her concert at the Loew’s Jersey Theater that evening.
The Culinary Conference Center at Hudson County Community College is hosting Sound Bites, a pre-concert buffet from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., where Strickland will meet with fans before her performance. The buffet will be held at 161 Newkirk St., 1st Floor Banquet Room, in Jersey City.

Chillfest screens ‘Nina’s Heavenly Delights’
Chillfest, the Jersey City lesbian and gay film series, will screen today, April 11, at 4:20 p.m., “Nina’s Heavenly Delights.”
The screening will take place at LITM, 140 Newark Avenue, 1/2 block from Grove Street PATH station in Downtown Jersey City. Doors open at 4 p.m. for food, drinks, and socializing.

Chamber to honor business leaders
The New Jersey Regional Chamber of Commerce will host its Annual Leadership Awards Luncheon on Thursday, April 29 at noon. The event will honor key decision makers in the area for their contributions to the Chamber and to the community.
