Funeral services were held March 14 for Rocco Musella, formerly of Hoboken. He passed away March 8. Born in Jersey City, Rocco was commonly known as “ALROCK.” He served his country during World War II on a minesweeper at Okinawa, Iwo Jima and other points in the Pacific Theater. He was a life-time member of American Legion Post 107, Hoboken. He started his first used furniture store on 1st Street in Hoboken around 1956. His famous saying, “I remember Hoboken when Hoboken was Hoboken” now often appears on tee-shirts sold in the Mile Square City. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Katie Androsiglio and Louise Schiller; his brothers Ralph, James, Nicholas, Joseph, John, Alfred, and two siblings before his birth. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, the former Martha Ploth. He is also survived by his children, son Rocco and his wife Catherine, Honesdale, Pa.; his two caretakers for the past four and a half years, daughter Barbara Latchney and her husband, John, Palm Coast, Fla.; his daughter, Debra Hosking, Carbondale, Pa.; his sister-in-law, Marilynn Stupin, Little Ferry, N.J.; six grand-children, ten great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Louis and his wife, Peggy, and Ernie and his wife, Adele, of Florida, and nieces and nephews. Services were arranged by the Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, Flagler Beach, Fla.
