Firefighter examination update: application deadline extended to May 29

The New Jersey Civil Service Commission has extended the application for the firefighter examination from March 31 to May 29. As the application deadline approaches, the department urges any interested candidates to pick up an application at Fire Headquarters or the Bayonne Public Library. Candidates can also download the application and study guides at www.state.n.j.us/csc.

Blood drive held on April 19 at 27th Street Fire House

There will be a blood drive on Monday, April 19, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the City Hall Fire House at 27th Street and Avenue C. The drive is co-sponsored by the Bayonne Fire Department and the Bayonne Police Department.
Health officials asked prospective donors to bring signed or picture identification and to know their Social Security numbers. All blood types are welcome. Anyone who is physically able is welcome to donate blood.
In order to prevent donors from being weak after giving blood, drive organizers are asking donors to eat a meal beforehand. Health professionals will screen prospective donors before blood is drawn. There will be a free cholesterol check for all blood donors.

Bikers Rally to be held

New Jersey’s seventh annual Bikers Rally for Brain Injured Children will be held on Saturday, April 10.
The escorted scenic rides to the Rally point will be leaving from Elks Lodge, located at 364 Broadway at 12 p.m.
The Rally will be held at Old Bridge Elks Lodge, 67 Old Amboy Road in Old Bridge, N.J.
Donation is $20 per person and participants will enjoy five live bands, food, beer and vendors. All proceeds will be donated to the special needs children of the Sayreville B.I.C. camp and Camp Robin in Old Bridge.
The bands that will be performing are: Into the Void: Black Sabbath, Stiff Upper Lip: AC/DC, Bone Daddy (metal classics), Boot Hill Express (Southern rock), and a surprise guest.
On this day Bikers across the country will ride to benefit special needs children. You don’t have to ride to have a great time for a great cause. The Rally will be held rain or shine.
