A funeral mass was celebrated April 24 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Jersey City, for Thomas M. Buckley, 64. He died peacefully after a long battle with cancer surrounded by his family on April 21. Known by many as a “stand up guy,” he was born in Jersey City, and lived in the Marion Gardens and Greenville before he retired in Toms River. He was one of 14 brothers and sisters. Tommy was a carpenter by trade, but loved working on the boardwalk in Seaside Heights, with his family, feeding half of Jersey City in the summer time. He was best known as “The Prince of New York”, in the 80s, when he managed the Limelight disco in Manhattan. Tommy is survived by his daughter, Ann Margaret Alexia Buckley; one grandson; his brothers, John, Joseph, Robert (Little) and Dennis Buckley, his sisters, Alice Dunne, Carol Sullivan, Margaret DeFilippo, Janet Scerbo and Deborah Abeltin. He was predeceased by his mother, Margaret (Stringer), his father, John, brothers, Leo and Kenneth (Cookie), sisters, Jacqueline Davern and Patricia Kent. He is also survived by 45 nieces and nephews. Services arranged by the Greenville Memorial Home, Jersey City. (EM 04/22)
