YMCA closing was shocking to seniors

Dear Editor:
We seniors are former members of the YMCA, which closed abruptly March 19. We lost our four day-a-week exercise classes for seniors which included yoga, aerobics, and weight training, all taught by our marvelous instructor, Rebekah Aramini Lupo. For us it was shocking that something so good was so unceremoniously taken away from us.
We are grateful to Leo Pellegrini, director of Health and Human Services, for making available to us the Multi-Servicer Center to hold a Senior Yoga Pilot Program on Wednesday, May 12. With very little publicity the turnout was large. The class was a huge success.
We are hoping that Hoboken can continue this program. We who participated in the yoga classes at the YMCA know how very beneficial they would be for the seniors of Hoboken.

Sincerely,
Eileen Julian, Alice Broquist, Janice Esposito, Lucy Delgado, Judy Willis, Norma Berkley
