W Hoboken is gearing up to kick off their bimonthly live concert series in their Living Room lounge on Tuesday, May 11 at 7 p.m. The first of the much anticipated “Jazz Nights” will feature the global sounds of saxophonist Teodross Avery, whose past innovations include collaborations with Amy Winehouse, Matchbox Twenty, and Lauren Hill.
W Hoboken, which recently celebrated its first birthday after enjoying a successful first year, decided a music series highlighting a diversity of artists and open to the public would be an excellent way to share their own passion for music and entertainment.
The hotel approached Avery to be the headliner of the series after hearing of his impressive musical accomplishments, and after hearing him play his fusion of Jazz, Swing, and Hip Hop.
“We feel that Mr. Avery will be a fantastic fit for our “Jazz Nights” due to his cool and unique sound and innovative stylings,” noted Anna MacDiarmid, general manager of the W Hoboken. “We are so excited to be able to showcase talent and amazing music. An accomplished musician
Avery’s first album ‘In Other Words’ was launched in 1994, and was welcomed by critical acclaim, including a five star review in USA Today. Since 1995, he has performed with the likes of Dee Dee Bridgewater, Roy Hargrove, Mos Def, and toured with Lauryn Hill and Matchbox Twenty. His television performances include appearances on shows such as “American Idol”, “MTV’s TRL”, and “Saturday Night Live”.
W Hoboken’s “Jazz Nights” kick off on Tuesday May 11 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Guests are invited to enjoy the complimentary live music and happy hour specials in W Hoboken’s swanky Living Room lounge.
