New sheriff candidate is a political plant

Dear Editor:
I read the article by Al Sullivan on May 23, 2010 concerning Christian Araujo who is running for Sheriff on the Republican Line and need to make some comments about the contents.
It is unbelievable that Mr. Araujo is running as an alleged “independent voice” as in March, 2010 Mr. Araujo took a photo which was published in a local newspaper side by side with Frank Schillari (who will face Sheriff Juan Perez in the November General Election) holding a sign stating elect Schillari as Sheriff. Lo and behold he is now running as a Republican against Sheriff Perez in the June Primary Election. Further it is noted that the signatures to nominate Araujo on the Republican ballot came from North Bergen where Schillari’s support is rooted. Is this not a deception and an insult against the intelligent voters of the county?
Further in the article Araujo demonstrates his lack of knowledge of what duties the Sheriff’s Office must perform according to mandates, such as protection of the courts, execution of warrants, etc. When he makes the statement that Sheriff Perez is out of touch, this is so far from reality, just look at the innovations that Perez completed in the area of modern technology for fighting crime and his ability to bring the morale of the department to new heights during his first term in office.
Voters of Hudson County, please do not be misguided by these type of statements and actions, vote to re-elect Sheriff Juan M. Perez in June and November, 2010.

Sincerely,
Ana Pagan
