Alleged MS-13 gang members arrested

A North Bergen man who asked four men outside of his house to leave was then attacked by them, according to police.
On May 18, at 1:25 a.m., a 24-year-old North Bergen man observed four Hispanic males fighting outside of his house on Bergenline Avenue, said Capt. Gerald Sanzari. Sanzari said that the victim and his cousin stepped outside and asked the men to leave, but then one male, later identified as Cesar Castillo, 21, of Union City, allegedly threw a bottle at him, which struck his elbow.
When the victim’s cousin came to his aid, the three remaining men allegedly began to punch and kick him.
“[The said] ‘don’t [expletive] with us; we are MS-13,’ ” said Sanzari, explaining that the MS-13 gang is known as violent.

They were arrested and charged with aggravated assault. Their bail was set at $4,000 with the option of a 10-percent bond, by Judge Joseph Romano.

Bus taken in front of security guard

A security guard working at a parking lot on Railroad Avenue on Monday morning observed a man stealing a bus, and was attacked when he tried to intervene, said police.
According to Capt. Sanzari, at around 1:30 a.m. on May 17, the guard observed a man enter a parked white “taxi bus” which had keys in the ignition. The man was light-skinned and looked like he was in his early 20s, wearing a black shirt.
He attempted to drive the bus at a “high rate of speed” out of the lot, but the security guard threw himself at the vehicle, attempting to stop him.
The security guard was thrown to the ground and suffered a scrape on his right elbow, police said. He was treated by North Bergen EMS, but refused further medical services.
Sanzari said the bus was last seen driving south on Tonnelle Avenue and was later discovered at 7312 Boulevard East.
Bergen County K-9 Units responded to the scene, but the dogs were unable to track the suspect. Police were able to recover seven partial fingerprints, which were sent to the New Jersey State Police Office of Forensic Sciences. Anyone with more information can call the North Bergen Police at (201) 392-2092.

Fish market robbed

An employee of a market on Broadway entered work on May 15 and found something amiss, according to Sanzari.
When she looked into the cash register, the normal amount of cash for the day was missing, as was a money sack containing $900.
Police were able to obtain surveillance video footage of the intruder from eight cameras. He was described as a light-skinned, dark-haired male wearing a dark shirt and light pants, entering the store at 11:51 p.m. He stole a total of $1,050 of cash.
Sanzari said that police were following up several leads and that the investigation was ongoing. Anyone with more information can call the North Bergen Police at (201) 392-2092.

Burglary suspects caught

Police have arrested two Jersey City juveniles, 14 and 17 years old, for allegedly stealing two BMX bikes valued at $200 in North Bergen.
On May 16 at approximately 3:40 p.m., a witness called police when they observed two males attempting to break into a residence on 44st Street, said Sanzari.
Upon their arrival they met the witness, who told police the direction in which the suspects had taken off. Police were able to apprehend them.
