Two detained in JC ‘gas bomb,’ but no link to terrorism

JERSEY CITY AND BEYOND — According to nj.com, a homemade bomb made out of a gas can that was dismantled by the Jersey City Bomb Squad this morning is not linked to terrorism, a federal spokesperson said. However, two men have been detained in connection with the device, which according to press reports, could have killed dozens of people.
Police found the device in an apartment building after responding to a call Monday morning around 6 a.m. about a gas leak at 451 Palisade Ave. in Jersey City. The block was evacuated and the bomb squad was called in.
According to the published report: “The state Department of Homeland Security and Preparedness said the bomb was not terrorism-related. ‘There’s no nexus to terrorism,’ spokesman Jose Lozano said.”
