Will Elwell be lighting the way?

Dear Editor: In January when most people are throwing away their tree, discarding old and broken ornaments, light bulbs, etc. politicians are doing just the opposite. Around this time of year they get ready to reorganize town government. It is their time, [politically speaking that is] to display their political tree [figuratively speaking that is] for the residents/voters. This year the Hudson County Democratic Organization has decided to discard some of its old ornaments, like former mayor Just and councilman Campanella, and replace them with Elwell and Marra. On top of the Secaucus political tree the county has placed Elwell. Will Elwell be a shining star ornament light, shining brightly for the tenure of his office? Will he be his own man? Will the county allow him to? Will Impreveduto allow him to? The reorganization meeting and the ornaments, Elwell and Impreveduto place on the “political tree” will be a pretty good indication of who’s calling the shots. Tom Troyer
