Nasty comments mar political environment

Dear Editor: As I read letters to this column, I am disheartened by the mud slinging that is constantly splattering these pages. Supporters of the rival political machines have resorted to some pretty nasty comments in their quest to gain advantage. Is this the best that Hoboken or Hudson County has to offer? Are the candidates that these writers champion suitable to bring honor and distinction to the political environment of New Jersey? Well, there is an alternative to the political fighting. I recommend that all readers and voters consider supporting Libertarian candidates in future elections. We Libertarians are out there, quietly standing on our principals of limited government and maximum personal freedom. Yes, we are here in Hoboken and throughout Hudson County too. Sorry, but we do not have time to become embroiled into the political fighting. There are just too many important issues of our times. We channel our efforts into supporting personal privacy and fighting government intrusion into our private lives. Taxation (not other candidates) is enemy number one, as we champion the reduction of taxes, the fuel supply of big and meddling government. Currently, the Libertarian Party has nominated the very capable Emerson Ellett to run as its candidate in the year 2000 as United States Senator for the State of New Jersey. Emerson stands, with dignity, as the only candidate for US Senate that can work to bring the ideals of liberty, freedom and personal responsibility that our founding fathers envisioned. Emerson=s positions on taxation, foreign aid, and reduction of wasteful government bureaucracy offer financial relief to hard working New Jersey residents whose income is being drained by excessive taxation. For more information on Emerson Ellett=s position, please visit his web site at www.ellett2000.org. Yes, the Libertarians are on the ballot, and your vote for us does make a difference! Thank you.
