Jersey City sites, Hoboken tow yard submit proposals to be Hoboken garage site

HOBOKEN — The city of Hoboken receives multiple proposals from land owners who hope the city will buy their land for the city’s public works garage. The existing garage on Observer Highway has been sold to a real estate developer, so unless that deal falls through, the city will need a new garage location.
Variuous residential locations have so far met with opposition from neighbors.
The city said that on Tuesday, June 15 at 2 pm, they opened the sealed bids in response to two Request for Proposals to lease interior garage space and an exterior parking lot in order to relocate vehicles from the municipal garage.
The following bids were received for interior garage space:
• IANA Company, LLC. 173 16th Street and 619 Luis M. Marin Blvd, Jersey City, NJ. For 9,000 sq ft interior/23,500 sq ft exterior for $25,000/month.
• 1414-1418 Grand St. LLC. 1414 Grand Street, Hoboken, NJ. 5,000 sq ft interior and 2,500 sq ft exterior for $28,917/month.
• Trustees of Stevens Institute of Technology. Location not clear. 2,000 sq ft for $3,750/month.
Theresa Pino. Location not clear. 5,000 sq ft for $3,000/month.
The following bids were received for an exterior parking lot:
• Hoboken Excalibur. 720-32 Grand St/727-33 Adams St, Hoboken, NJ. 27,500 sq ft for $20,000/month.
• S2 Group. 39 New York Ave, Jersey City, NJ. 55,000 sq ft for $7,500/month.
• Theresa Pino. Location not clear. 25,000/45,000 sq ft for $5,000/$10,000/month.
The city said they will review and evaluate the bids based on multiple factors, including location, cost, and impact on the community.
Mayor Dawn Zimmer will call for a special meeting for Tuesday, June 22nd to review and discuss the bids received and to provide an opportunity for the public to comment on the proposals.
