TARANTINO, CARMELA

A funeral mass was celebrated July 29 at St. Ann’s R.C. Church in Hoboken for Carmela Tarantino, 90. She passed away in the home of her birth surrounded by her family. A lifelong resident of Hoboken, Carmela was employed as a seamstress for a short time many years ago. The majority of her life was dedicated to being a wife, mother, and sister to her family. Carmela was predeceased by her husband of more than 50 years, the late Vincent Tarantino; a son Dominick; six brothers, Emil, Rocky, Michael, Tony, Patsy, and Victor; and four sisters, Angie, Antoinette, Connie, and Lucy. Surviving is a son Anthony and two daughters, Rosemarie Salzmann and Joann Belfiore, who was a caregiver. She shared a special relationship with her two daughters-in-law, Vickey and Dawn, and her son-in law Bill. A great joy in Carmela’s life were her seven grandchildren, Carmella, Stacey, Dawn, Dominck, Billy, Antoinette, Chris, Peter, and Jennifer; and her seven great-grandchildren. Carmela will also be sadly missed by Ralph Montanile, who gave of himself for her care. Services arranged by the Failla Memorial Home, Hoboken.
