HUDSON COUNTY — Good news, residents of Hudson County’s northern towns: A train tunnel presently under construction through the area into New York City could increase property values by as much as $29,000 per property, according to a recent study by the Regional Plan Association.
The Associated Press reported on Thursday: “The urban research and advocacy group says home property values within walking distance of the train stations will increase as much as $29,000.” As a result, of course, “Property taxes also will increase.”
The project, called Access to the Region’s Core, is expected to double the train capacity in and out of Manhattan and be completed by 2018.
“More New Jersey residents are expected to work in New York because commuters will be able to get to Manhattan in less than an hour,” according to the article.
The tunnel will run under or near parts of North Bergen, Union City, Weehawken, and Hoboken.
