Jersey City Resident Receives Scholarship Award from the Hispanic Business Council Scholarship Foundation of NJ, Inc

The Hispanic Business Council Scholarship Foundation of NJ, Inc. (HBCSF) awarded Ashley Colón of Jersey City a $2,000 scholarship at the foundation’s 19th Annual Scholarship Gala held in May. Ms. Colón plans to attend the University of Richmond in Virginia in the fall. She maintained honors throughout her high school career and plans to study animal behavior in college. Fifteen current college and college-bound Hispanic students were recognized with scholarships or book stipend awards. All scholarship recipients are required to be enrolled full-time at a postsecondary institution, maintain a 3.0 grade point average, and complete 80 hours of community service. The gala was the nonprofit organization’s major fundraiser of the year for scholarship support. Since 1993, the foundation has awarded over $280,000 to students. This year’s annual gala recognized the following three honorees for their leadership and contributions to the community: Ms. Ivette R.
