Hoboken city workers get word of layoffs

HOBOKEN — A source said Thursday afternoon that some Hoboken city employees have begun receiving word that they will be laid off, a week after the state approved a plan for the city to lay off 18 City Hall workers and 18 police officers.
NJ.com reported that the plan says the city intends to ax “two clerk typists, a public information officer, and a zoning assistant … also, a management specialist and a laborer in human services and seven part-time laborers, a truck driver, three mechanics, and a supervising mechanic in environmental services will be let go.”
