A funeral mass was celebrated Aug. 26 at St. Paul the Apostle Church for Eugene F. (Gene) Flannelly, 77, of Jersey City. He died Aug. 22, 2010 at Hamilton Park Health Care Center, Jersey City. A lifelong Jersey City resident, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and, for the last five years, served as a liaison in the Cultural Affairs Dept. for Jersey City. He was a licensed hairdresser, taught at the Vo-Tech School for Jersey City, and was a hair stylist for Patty Doos on Mallory Ave. He was also a jeweler by trade. He was the son of the late Rita and Eugene Flannelly; the brother of Gerald M. Flannelly and his wife, Karen Flannelly; the uncle of Kathleen Zacarria, Patricia Del Vecchio, and Michael and Kevin Flannelly; and the grand-uncle of Kelly, Nicole, and Matthew.
