‘Clean up this town!’

To the Editor:
I am disturbed as I drive along Avenue E through Bayonne. At any given corner whether you stop for a red light or just turn the corner, much to my dismay, all you see are very high weeds and debris flowing over the sewers. Between the leaves, the weeds, and all the garbage being through in the sewers, it is making Avenue E (especially at the entrance of Bayonne) disgraceful. No one takes pride in the way the curbs look in this town. If Avenue E looks like this, I can only imagine what the rest of the town’s curb lines look like. If I was a potentially new resident, I would make a U-turn right out of this town.
The last time I checked, it was the MUA’s responsibility to maintain this part of the city. Obviously, Mr. Gallo, director of the BMUA, a.k.a. chief of staff to the mayor, a.k.a. newly appointed business administrator for the City of Bayonne, doesn’t know which hat he wears, so I will take it upon myself to remind you, Mr. Gallo, that you and you alone are the director of the BMUA and it is you who should be driving around. That is, when you find the time, and inspecting these sewers to make sure nothing is clogging them. Believe me, if you were to drive down Avenue E like I do each and every morning to take the turnpike to work, you would see the ugliness right before your eyes. I suppose if Mrs. Noble was elected instead of Mr. Greaves, she would have made sure this was a priority as she claimed she was when running for council of the 3rd ward to beautify the third ward. Hmm! What a suspicious reason to run, isn’t it?
I cannot believe that the mayor is proud of the way Bayonne looks. He needs to get his car and drive up and down the streets. And not in the city-owned vehicles wasting gas at the taxpayers’ expense, but his privately owned vehicle.
Damn it already! Clean up this town!
