The police said the store’s loss prevention officer spotted Huggins allegedly putting things into a large black duffle bag and attempting to leave the store.
When confronted, Huggins allegedly argued with the security officer, and was arrested after an off duty police officer intervened.
The police say that a search subsequent to the arrest found Huggins in possession of a glass pipe commonly used to smoke crack cocaine. Along with the shoplifting charge, Huggins faces charges for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Wok’d up for tip theft

Thomas C. Lentz, 27, of Jersey City, was charged with theft of $5.50 in tips from Wok & Roll restaurant at about 8:08 p.m. on Sept. 20.
After receiving a description of a man that restaurant owners said had grabbed the tip jar from the counter, police stopped Lentz a few blocks away on Avenue E and 18th Street, where police said Lentz appeared to have something hidden under his shirt.
When they stopped him, police said, the jar fell out. A search subsequent to the arrest found Lentz also in alleged possession of a hypodermic needle. Lentz was sent to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny.

Alleged thieves left cell phone at crime scene

Police investigating a string of auto thefts from uptown Bayonne said they found the cellular phone allegedly belonging to one of the two males charged with the crimes on the floor of a burglarized car, tying him to the crime scene.
Dieyson Suman, 20, of Newark, and a 17-year-old Newark boy were stopped near 44th Street and Broadway at about 2:14 a.m. on Sept. 18.
The police said that when they arrived, they saw Suman allegedly try to hide behind a parked car. The police also said they saw something hanging out of his pocket that turned out to be a GPS device that did not belong to him. The police said other stolen items were also found nearby, including jewelry, a bottle of cologne, a credit card, and other items, and that an investigation indicated that Suman and the 17 year old had allegedly burglarized several cars in an area from 48th to 44th streets. In one of these cars, the police said they found Suman’s cell phone, which he had apparently dropped.
“Even if we hadn’t seen him, we would have been able to get him later because of the phone,” the police said.
