Festival of the Andes

New Jersey City University’s 18th annual “Festival of the Andes,” an outdoor event that celebrated the cultures of Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, featured live Andean music, performaces by dance troupes, musical instrument and dance workshops, “Meet the Llama,” displays and sales of native clothing and traditional handcrafted items, a “Shrunken Head Display,” and face painting for children. Among the dancers who gathered with Hugo Morales (third from right) of Union, Festival coordinator, were (from the left): Marco Ruiz of Clifton, Stephany Cadenas of Westfield; Jahmel Moselli of Passaic; Nathaly Zevallos of Garfield; Ashley Arribasplata of Clifton; Sofia Ramirez of Hackensack; and Miguel Zevallos of Garfield. The Festival was co-sponsored by Goya Foods, Inc. and NJCU’s Federacion de Estudiantes Latino-Americanos, and presented by NJCU’s Council on Hispanic Affairs.
