HUD official comes to Jersey City to announce major funding

JERSEY CITY – U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Regional Administrator Adolfo Carrión is scheduled to join Rep. Donald Payne and Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. on Garfield Avenue in Jersey City to announce major funding to develop sustainable neighborhoods in New Jersey.
Specifically, funding assistance will be provided to the Canal Crossing project near Garfield Avenue in Jersey City, and will focus on creating a residential mixed-use, transit-oriented community with access to open space amenities in a neighborhood with a significant low-income population.
The funding is a joint venture of HUD and the U.S Department of Transportation that will help connect housing, employment and economic development with transportation and other infrastructure improvements.
Other officials scheduled to attend are City Councilwoman Viola Richardson and Jersey City Redevelopment Agency Executive Director Robert Antonicello. – Ricardo Kaulessar
