Two drug arrests made in early morning hours

Four individuals were arrested in two consecutive days on drug charges last week. According to police, on Oct. 13 at approximately 3:30 a.m., Sgt. Rene Roa, Jr. observed an SUV being operated in an erratic manner while driving down the road.
Roa followed the vehicle for several blocks and after he observed it making several more erratic movements, the officer made a motor vehicle stop.
According to police, when the drivers’ window was rolled down a strong odor of marijuana came from the car.
The officer also observed a “green, vegetative material” believed to be marijuana in a black book bag on the passenger seat.
Police said a measuring scale and another bag of alleged marijuana were also visible inside of the open bag.
The driver, Anthony D. Echoles, 38, of Fort Worth, Texas, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to dispense and being in possession of a controlled dangerous substance within 1000 feet of a school.
On Oct. 14 at approximately 3:40 a.m., police were alerted by a local resident driving in town that a car driving erratically was seen coming off the ramp from 495 and entering Weehawken on Boulevard East.
Responding officers stopped the car near Hudson Place and Boulevard East based on the report given by the citizen.
According to a police report, when police investigated the vehicle they observed a clear bag of what they believed to be marijuana on front seat and a suspicious white powdery substance believed to be cocaine inside front console.
According to police, because all three people in the car denied any knowledge of either of the substances, all three men (Mohammed Elebyary, 29, of Jersey City; Kevin Mont, 26, of North Bergen; and Omar Amin, 27, of Naples, Florida) were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

According to police, around 9 p.m. on 46th Street, officers on patrol observed Blanco and another man walking along the street allegedly peering into parked cars and “trying” door handles.
When police approached, the other man fled immediately. Blanco allegedly attempted to resist the officer by waving his arms in front of him.
When police were able to eventually stop and investigate Blanco, they found he had an active warrant on a traffic offense from West New York.
Blanco was arrested on the outstanding warrant for contempt of court and also charged with obstructing administration of law for the incident on Oct. 8.
Police said that Blanco had no evidence of a crime on him and no damage had been done to any of the cars.

Once police arrived, representatives from the hotel declined to sign a formal complaint and the man left the premises.

A pair of Ray Ban sunglasses, Apple iPod headphones, and documentation (including the owner’s insurance card and drivers’ license) were taken; the total estimated value of the stolen items was $105.
