A Christian service of burial was held Oct. 14 at Zion Lutheran Church for George L. Preissler, 94, formerly of Union City. He worked for the Path Train system before being drafted in June 1941, served as a staff sergeant in the 226th artillery battalion, and spent his remaining work years in deliveries for Miller’s Abattoir in North Bergen, then with the custodial staff of Paramus High School. He was also very active in his church, St. John’s Lutheran in Jersey City, spending many years on the church council, and then enjoyed the fellowship of his “adopted” church, Long Valley’s Zion Lutheran. He was the son of the late George and Augusta; the husband of the late Dorothy; the father of Dorothy and husband Robert Weis, and the late June; the grandfather of Robert and wife Eva Maria and Andrea and husband Matthew; and the great-grandfather of Sara and Megan. Services arranged by William J. Leber Funeral Home of Chester.
