HUDSON COUNTY – Anthony Zanowic, an independent candidate in the 13th Congressional District, announced this weekend that he has received the formal endorsement of the state’s Conservative Party.
Zanowic is one of three challengers vying for the seat now held by Albio Sires, the incumbent congressman.
On Nov. 2, Zanowic will face off against Sires as well as Republican newcomer Henrietta Dwyer and Maximo Gomez Nacer, a representative from the Gravity Buoyancy Solution. Conservative Party Chairman Steven Spinosa said Zanowic is among “the most conservative” candidates running in the various congressional races in the state this year.
“I am honored to receive the endorsement of our state’s Conservative Party,” said Zanowic in a released statement. “Since its founding in 1992, the party has kept faith with its core values of smaller government and lower taxes.”
Zanowic, a “staunch fiscal conservative” who said he is also the only pro-life candidate in the race, wants to eliminate a host of federal programs that he deems “wasteful, unnecessary or just plain unconstitutional.”
The 13th Congressional District covers four counties, including a majority of Hudson County municipalities like Guttenberg, Hoboken, Union City, Weehawken, and West New York, as well as parts of Bayonne, Jersey City, and North Bergen.
Election Day is Nov. 2.
