A mass was celebrated Oct. 23 at St. Paul the Apostle Church for Bernadine “Florence” (Gioia) Tudisco, 96, a lifelong resident of Jersey City. She passed away Oct. 20. She was a seamstress and supervisor at well-known dress shops in Jersey City and Union City. Since 2001, she was a customer service representative/cook at BJ’s Wholesale in Flemington, where she voluntarily retired at 95 years of age in 2009. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Paul the Apostle Church, a member of the Church’s Rosary Society and Seniors Group, the Our Lady of Mercy Church Seniors Group and, since 2001, a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church Seniors Group, where she was a parishioner. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Susan Gioia; the wife of the late Thomas Dominick Tudisco; the mother of Annette Blunda and Thomas Tudisco; the mother-in-law of Anthony Blunda Sr. and Priscilla Kennedy-Tudisco; the grandmother “Nana” of Denise, Anthony, Theresa, and Tom Blunda; the great-grandmother of Devin and Tyler, Joyce and Tommy Jr., and Isabella Grace Blunda; the sister of Yolanda Nativo, Clara Stamboni, August and Richard Gioia, and the late Frank and Anthony Gioia, Ann Morrissey, Josephine Cavanaugh, Frances Mitchell, and Catherine Thorne.
