GALLAGHER, BERNARD J

The funeral liturgy performed Dec. 1 at St John’s Church, Lakehurst, for Bernard J. Gallagher, 91, of Manchester. He died peacefully surrounded by his family Nov. 27 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. He retired in 1987 from the Jersey City Police Dept after 32 years of dedicated service as a police officer. Born in Jersey City, he resided there for most of his life before moving to Manchester 18 years ago. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp in World War II and Korea as a staff Sergeant, and served with the 66th fighter wing. He was a member of the AmVets Post 2 in Jackson, and the POBA of Jersey City and loved dancing and music. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Agnes M. Foley Gallagher; his son Brian T. and wife April of Brick; two grandchildren and their fiancées, Ian Gallagher and Anita Osmundson and Lauren Gallagher and Michael Brown, Jr., and many nieces and nephews. Services arranged by the Oliverie Funeral Home, Manchester.
