Private funeral services have been held for Capt. Charles G. O’Connor (Bud, Doc, Charley), 93. He passed away Dec. 30. Born in Brooklyn, he most recently resided in Hoboken. He went to sea to support his family in his teens and worked his way up from deck hand to captain. He saw convoy service in the darkest hours of World War II. Charles spent 12 years in Calcutta, India as Director General of South Asia and Persian Gulf operations for American Export Isbrandtsen Lines. Since retiring from the sea he has lived in Hoboken since 1975 where he indulged his lifelong passions for military and Irish history. Charles was a brother and uncle and friend to hundreds of people around the globe. He is survived by his sisters, Josephine Chopin and Sheila Coleman and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Services arranged by the Introcaso-Angelo Funeral Home, Jersey City.
