LANE, LEWIS P

Funeral services were held Jan. 8 for Lewis P. Lane, 67. He died Jan. 3 at Christ Hospital, Jersey City. Born in Garysburg, N.C., the son of the late Lillian R. and Garrett P. Lane, he lived in Newark before settling in Jersey City in 1980. He was a mechanic with the U.S. Postal Service in Newark for 18 years. He retired in February 2010. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Newark. An avid fisherman, he also was an active member of the Roselle Fisherman’s Club and the East Coast Crankers. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Viet Nam and served with the 87th Airborne at Fort Bragg. He was the husband of Pura Franco-Lane; father of Garrett, Gary, C.J. and Alyssa; brother of Delores Hughes (Lonnie), Doris Benjamin, John Lane, Denise Darden (Hamilton) Adrienne Ford and Nathaniel Palmer, and grandfather of nine. Services arranged by the Greenville Memorial Home, Jersey City.
