HOBOKEN — The Hoboken City Council will convene for their third meeting of 2011 on Wednesday, Jan. 19, to address 23 resolutions and nine ordinances, including one which could potentially amend Hoboken’s rent control law, which is sure to spark some fiery debate.
Resolutions are on the agenda to appoint two Zoning Board members and one alternate, a North Hudson Sewerage Authority member, and a Hoboken Housing Authority member.
Councilman Tim Occhipinti has put forth a resolution supporting a motion to intervene on behalf of the city in opposition of the controversial proposed natural gas pipeline. While the proposed pipeline will more directly affect Bayonne and Jersey City, Hoboken is taking a stance for fear that a mishap or blast would impact the city’s southern edge.
The council will once again address recreation fees, as an ordinance to amend the fees will be voted on for first reading.
