Funeral services took place Jan. 6 for Gilberto Ortiz, 47. He passed away Jan. 3 at Helen Fuld Hospital, Trenton. Born in Manhattan, he was a lifelong resident of Jersey City. He was a member of the Church of the Covenant in Jersey City. He was the husband of Nadienne Balkaran; father of Nicholas and Phillip Balkaran; son of Gilberto Ortiz and Carmen Rodriguez; and brother of Cilia, Robert and Mike Ortiz, Ray and Victor Raniero, Elizabeth Garcia and the late Carlos Ortiz. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Services arranged by the Introcaso-Angelo Funeral Home, Jersey City.
