NJ Transit passenger pulls emergency release after phone falls on tracks

SECAUCUS — On Monday, Dec. 5, a passenger on an NJ Transit train caused delays when he pulled the emergency door release, officials told the media. According to a report, NJ Transit said the man had accidentally dropped his cell phone on the tracks in between cars.
Reports said that the train stopped around 8:20 a.m. near Secaucus Junction. The passenger allegedly jumped on the tracks. He was charged with defiant trespass and interfering with transportation, media reports said.
The train was scheduled to leave Long Branch at 6:49 a.m. and arrive in Secaucus at 8:11 a.m. The train was back on schedule by 9:50 a.m.
