Reichart resigns from Jersey City Board of Education

JERSEY CITY — Setting the stage for yet another conflict on the Jersey City Board of Education, Board Vice President John Reichart announced that he is resigning from the board to focus on family business.

He said he needed to spend time on some business opportunities of his own, although he will remain an employee of developers Eric and Paul Silverman in Jersey City.

The resignation comes at a time when the board is still largely divided, and the naming of his replacement will likely become a heated conflict, since he is considered the deciding vote in a board otherwise evenly politically divided.

The board has 30 days to name a replacement.
