Looking to get into the win column, both the (0-1) Jets and the (0-1) Bears took to the court for a JCC of Bayonne Indoor Flag Football Jr. Division week two showdown. Scoring first on a Christian Benson wire to wire TD catch, the Jets grabbed an early 6-0 lead. Three plays later the Bears answered with a 20 yard TD grab by David Matos and a two point toss to Mariam Rasslan to put the Bears up 8-6. Down by 2 points, the Jets soared out to a 26-8 advantage as Aviv Talmor rushed full court for a TD followed by a defensive safety, another long TD sprint by Anthony Baez and four extra points by Alina Danelyants. Facing an 18 point deficit, the Bears fought back as Amir Asouti notched a TD and two point snare with David Matos racking up his second TD to cut the Jets’ lead to 26-22 at half time. With the Bears hot on their heels, the Jets went back on the attack to make it a 36-22 bout as Benson and Talmor one again found paydirt. Undaunted, the Bears rallied with Matos and Rasslan revisiting the endzone to draw within two points at 36-34, Jets. Hoping to pull into the lead, the Bears’ Louai Asouti came up with a key defensive stop to give his squads’ offense another shot at the Jets’ endzone. After an impressive drive down to the Jets’ 10 yard line, the Jets’ defense stepped up to end the Bears’ surge. With less than twenty seconds remaining, the Jets finally sealed the deal as Christian Benson reeled in his forth TD of the bout for a 42-34 Jets’ victory.
