A funeral mass was offered Oct. 27 at St. Ann’s R.C. Church, Hoboken, for Ernest Prudente, 86. He passed away suddenly on Oct. 24 at his Hoboken residence. Born in Long Island City, NY Ernie, as he was known to all, was a Hoboken resident since 1931. A proud Army veteran of the Korean conflict, Ernie continued his benevolence by becoming a Hoboken firefighter in 1960. He moved up the ranks to captain of that department in 1976 and prior to his retirement in 1990, Ernie was appointed as a fire inspector for the City of Hoboken in 1987.
Predeceased by his wife Marion and his brother, John, he is survived by his only daughter, Diane Andrews and grandson, Brad and his wife Rebecca and their daughter, Abigail. Also surviving is a brother, Anthony Prudente. Ernie was a member of the American Legion Post 107 in Hoboken, the Hudson County Police and Firemen’s Local 4, the International Association of Fire Officers of Washington, DC Unit 1076, and a member of the Firemen’s Mutual Benevolent Association Local 3.
