At (1-0), the Colts had their hands full as they slipped past the Bears with an 8 point win. Facing the Jets in game two of their JCC of Bayonne Indoor Flag Football Jr. Division season opening double header, the Colts braced for another tough test. Trading TD’s in the early going with the Colts’ Mariam Rasslan and Aaliyana Cifuentes matching the Jets’ Christian Benson’s two TDs, it was a two point sweep by the Colts’ Toni Rivada that gave her squad a slim 14-12 advantage. Relying on their air attacks, the Colts and Jets each found paydirt again with a Rasslan TD and a Cifuentes two point catch for the Colts equaled by the Jets’ Aviv Talmor’s TD and a Benson two point play. Leading 22-20, the Colts tacked on a safety only to be matched by the Jets’ defense recording a safety making it 24-22, Colts. Things really got heated when the two teams found themselves deadlocked at 30-30 as a TD and two point play by Benson let the Jets slip into a tie inspite of the Colts’ Aaliyana Cifuentes hauling in a TD. With their sights set on grabbing the lead, Anthony Baez and Alina Danelyants tried to spark the Jets’ running game but the Colts’ defense dug in for the stop. With the ball back in their hands, the Colts took a 38-30 advantage as Cifuentes raced in for a TD and two point play. Trying to rally the troops to a comeback victory, the Jets fell prey to two wire to wire “pick six” interceptions by the Colts’ Aaliyana Cifuentes as the Colts went to (2-0) with a 50-30 victory. A special mention must be given to the Colts’ Anthony Fraser for his two key defensive stops.
