Deplorable America

To the Editor:

I am not a politician, nor do I care much for politicians, so I can say that America is deplorable. Today America has sunk to the ultimate possible low. We have long since lost our way and forgotten what to be America is. As we look around the world, the world is in shambles. Natural disasters, manmade tragedies, and we sit here and worry about what someone said 11 years ago.
Yet it is amazing that this is American culture, and yet now we scorn our very own culture. Just listen to rap songs, country songs, beauty pageants, how people in general treat each other. Yet we are in shock? Why are we in shock? Because the news media tells us to be in shock? How many men and woman out there have said vulgar things in private to their friends? America is not the land of the free and home of the brave anymore. America is the land of the stupid and home of the mindless drone.

I have watched today people bash another American and say how horrible this is and yet the other American whose husband who has acted on his words is acceptable to the world. I cannot even begin to fathom how saddened I am by the pathetic petty antics at play in this country. I watch them say this is horrible because it was Donald Trump who said it, but when we bring up Bill Clinton, the other side argues that this was years ago or Bill Clinton is not running for President.
Russia is on the move exerting full power in the Middle East, and we do nothing. ISIS is on the rise; we do nothing. Terrorism in this country is on the rise; we do nothing. Citizens are killing citizens, and we do nothing. What is vulgar is how sad Americans have become. The petty drama that has no bearing on the world is more important than what is destroying the world. Maybe we should all lose our right to vote because it would seem none of us have earned a right to vote; nor do any of us take the right to vote seriously. It is just a big game the politicians play with you, and there is a famous Don Corleone line in the “Godfather”: “I never wanted this for you. I work my whole life; I don’t apologize, to take care of my family. And I refused to be a fool dancing on the strings held by all of those big shots. That’s my life, I don’t apologize for that. But I always thought that when it was your time, that you would be the one to hold the strings. Senator Corleone, Governor Corleone, something.”

I leave you with this final thought. If what Trump has said is this horrible, than Hillary Clinton’s husband is even worse, and he was found guilty of such things. So this means Hillary is an enabler of Bill Clinton, which means Hillary condones such behavior. If what Trump says is so horrible than that means Hillary is just as horrible for continuing to support Bill Clinton. There can be no denying this logic. This means that both candidates should resign immediately and if you vote for either of these candidates you are deplorable. If you think any other way you are inconsistent and your entire argument is biased and it is not the candidates who are deplorable but the American public who is deplorable. Are you a puppet on the string?
