Stevens ranks 71st in list of top 100 colleges

HOBOKEN — The Stevens Institute of Technology was ranked 71 in U.S. News & World Report’s annual list of top national universities.
Stevens is placed in the top 100 and tied for 71st place along with Baylor University and the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities.
Stevens joins other New Jersey educational institutions in the ranking including Princeton University at 1, Rutgers-New Brunswick at 70, Seton Hall at 118, Montclair State at 176, and both New Jersey Institute of Technology and Rutgers-Newark tied at 135.
According to the U.S News website schools in the national universities category “offer a full range of undergraduate majors, plus master’s and doctoral programs. These colleges also are committed to producing groundbreaking research.”
The website also explains how the colleges are ranked.
“U.S, News gathers data from each college on up to 15 indicators of academic excellence. Each factor is assigned a weight that reflects U.S News’ judgement about how much that measure matters. Finally the colleges and universities in each category are ranked against their peers, based on their composite weighted score.”
