A funeral mass was offered Aug. 11 at Sts. Joseph and Michael Church in Union City for Maria Teresa Alava, 78. She passed away Aug. 8. She was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador and was a lifelong resident of Union City. Maria Teresa was the wife of the late Celio Celin Alava and was the mother of Monica Gonzalez with husband Wilfredo Gonzalez, Maria Teresa, Carmen, Celin and Irving Alava with wife Giovanna Alava. She is also remembered as the sister of Guillermo Moreno (deceased), Rosalia Rosenberg (deceased), Francisca Rosenberg de Ordonez and Erling Rosenberg. She was blessed with ten grandchildren, Stephanie, Steven, Benjamin, Anthony, Kevin and Brian Gonzalez; Gabriella, Jacob and Joshua Alava; and Carlos Alava.
