JERSEY CITY – Runoff from the Western slope of the Palisades, which routinely plagues Tonnelle Avenue in Jersey City, caused a closure between Manhattan Avenue and Secaucus Road after a series of downpours overnight.
As of the morning rush hour on July 26, the roadway remained closed in both directions, and detours around the flooded road increased traffic along Newark Avenue, JFK Boulevard, and other roads leading into Jersey City. This includes increased delays on the approaches to the Holland Tunnel, officials said.
