MACINTOSH, DOUGLAS J.

A mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 18 in Our Lady of Good Counsel, Township of Washington, for Douglas J. MacIntosh, 76. He was raised in North Bergen, lived in Westwood, and retired to Venice, Fla., He passed away June 12 surrounded by his family. Born in Jersey City, he was the son of the late John and Mary McMonegal MacIntosh. He was the widower of the late Anne Post MacIntosh who passed away in February 2011. Doug retired from NBC where he was employed for 32 years. He lived his motto, “Love what you do” through varied work experiences, including the Sweet Company of America, Tootsie Rolls, the New York Herald Tribune, Mutual Insurance, American Airlines and the Cracker Barrel.
He was a 1958 graduate of Weehawken High School and attended Fairleigh Dickinson University. He served with the U.S. Navy. Doug was of the Catholic faith. He was a Boy Scout leader and volunteered to make homes handicap accessible. Doug was a devoted father and grandfather, and a beloved brother and uncle.
Doug was happiest when fishing, at the ocean, bird watching, enjoying nature, spending time with friends and family over a good meal, entertaining those around him with his stories, collecting antiques, tinkering, repairing, building and creating with his hands. Surviving are five children: Virginia A. Brinton and her husband Mark; Scott W. MacIntosh, Tammy L. Frasca and her husband James, Doug MacIntosh, and Grace Gillen and her husband William; five grandchildren, Ryan, Joseph, Kaitlyn, William and Michael; a sister, Lorraine Membry; a niece, Laura Reeves and her husband Kevin; great-niece, Amanda; and cousin, Carolyn McMonegal.
