Cuban Day Parade steps off on Sunday at noon

NORTH BERGEN – On Sunday June 5, the 15th annual Cuban Day Parade will commence at 12 noon at 79th Street and Bergenline Avenue in North Bergen, and proceed to 43rd Street and Bergenline Avenue in Union City.
This year’s parade will feature 8 to 10 floats with sponsor vehicles, marching bands different groups and organizations as well as distinguished political figures.
This year’s parade is dedicated to the memory of Jesus “Manito” Perez one of the pioneers of the Cuban Day Parade which began in the year 2000.
Perez is well known by the community in Hudson County for his furniture stores and senior daycare center, and for receiving many awards from local, state and federal officials for his outstanding work in serving his community.
Ms. Bernadette Menendez will be the queen of this year’s parade, and the Grand Marshall will be Rafael Pineda.
Other celebrities expected to be on hand include Carina Garcia and Rolman Vergara of Univision TV; Diana Naranjo, entertainer and artist; Joel Santiago of Univision Radio;
Artistic Godmother: and Oneida Quevedo, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Oneida’s Dance Studio on 68th Street and Bergenline Avenue in West New York.
The designated Cuban of the Year will be U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez.
