ZITZMAN, JAMES PAUL SR.

Also known as “Jim”, 69, of Cliffwood Beach, passed away surrounded by his family on May 11, 2016 at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel. James was born on September 25, 1946 in Bayonne, where he grew up. On April 12, 1977, James and his wife, Joan, were married and began their life together. In 1986, they settled in Cliffwood Beach to raise their family. Throughout Jim’s life, he worked as a Longshoreman for Local Union #1804-1 in Port Elizabeth, Newark; he was currently retired. He was also a proud U.S. Army Veteran, where he served during the Vietnam War. While living in Cliffwood Beach, Jim was a member of the Knights of Columbus with St. Joseph’s Church in Keyport. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Regina (Kosinski) Zitzman, and his siblings, Christine, Michael, and Donald Zitzman, Andrea Wahlig, and Margaret Zitzman. James is survived by his wife of 39 years, Joan (Rugar) Zitzman; his son, James “Jim” Paul Zitzman Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, of Old Bridge; his brothers, George and Richard Zitzman; and his grandchildren, Donald James and Kylie Rae Zitzman. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jim to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital , www.stjude.org, or a charitable organization of your choice, would be greatly appreciated.
