Schools tested for lead April 28

Secaucus schools were built after lead pipes were used for running water, but CQI Water Treatment tested fountains, kitchen sinks, and nurses’ office sinks on Thursday April 28. A total of 20 locations were tested at Huber Street School, 12 locations at Clarendon School, and two locations at the Early Learning Center.
The federal detection level for lead in drinking water is 15 parts per billion, and all locations tested significantly below these levels, according to Superintendent Kenneth Knops.
Lead testing in schools is not required by districts that receive water from public sources. Secaucus receives water from Suez Water which is a publically treated utility regulated by the Board of Public Utilities.
Any additional questions or concerns can be directed to John Scheiner the Supervisor of Building and Grounds.
